Every major family. One balance.
Nib routes to the major model families through one endpoint. Every paid plan reaches every family — there are no per-model caps and no model gates between tiers.

| Family | Good at | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| GPT | Broad coding work, tool use, long refactors | Every paid plan |
| Claude | Large codebases, careful edits, long context | Every paid plan |
| Gemini | Fast iteration, multimodal input, large context | Every paid plan |
| Grok | Reasoning-heavy tasks, an alternative route when others are saturated | Every paid plan |
| Open-weight families | High-volume routine edits, cost control | Every paid plan |
Exact model ids are listed inside the app and via GET /v1/models.
Providers update their catalogues regularly; we announce removals before they take effect and route to an equivalent model in the same family if one disappears without notice.
Measured in credits, not prices.
Ten credits equal one dollar of model usage. The app estimates the credit cost of a request before it runs, and every response reports the exact amount charged.
Before
A cost estimate appears next to the send action, based on the context and the model you selected.
During
The status line shows credits consumed by the current session, updated per request.
After
Every response carries the exact credits charged and the balance remaining. The console shows the same numbers.
We deliberately do not publish a per-model price list. Models change faster than a public table can stay accurate. The in-app estimate and the response headers are authoritative.
Pick a model, or let Nib pick.
By default Nib sends routine work to an efficient model and escalates when a task fails twice. You can pin any model per project, or override per request.
| Setting | Behaviour | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Auto (default) | Efficient model for small edits, escalates after two failures | Most work |
| Pinned | Always use the model you name | When you know the model's behaviour |
| Budget | Efficient models only | Long, mechanical refactors |
| BYOK | Uses your provider key; no credits consumed | Existing provider contracts, local models |
